Conducting Science for Us by Us: Centering Ourselves in Research and Protecting our Sanity Along the Way
Psychology students from diverse backgrounds will engage in a community discussion about conducting research about populations whom they represent and some of the barriers that are created, as both psychologists-in-training who are actively doing the work and the systems in place that make it difficult for this work to be published and disseminated. We will be joined by Aldo Barrita (https://abarrita.academia.edu), a doctoral student in his 4th year at the Psychological and Brain Sciences PhD Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). This is part of a monthly Diversity Graduate Student series created by Troy Kearse, 2022-2023 DEI Chair of the SPSP student committee, to build community among students of marginalized communities in SPSP.
