SPSP's vision for the future, as outlined in the Strategic Framework, is to become an inclusive and diverse organization that fosters the research and development of personality and social psychological science to improve society. Creating and sharing resources that combat racism and global exclusion is an essential component of bringing that vision to life.

To that end, volunteers have been collaborating with SPSP's leadership to craft tools that will make personality and social psychology a more equitable and welcoming field for all psychologists. Read on to learn about the resources that have been created so far, and then learn how you can get involved.

Eliminating Racism in Workplaces and Communities – New Resources

A subgroup of the Equity and Anti-Racism (EAR) task force, known as Eliminating Racism in Workplaces and Communities, developed a guide for promoting equity and inclusivity in professional settings. This includes a diagnostic tool, which institutions can use to mark their progress, tools for those seeking a mentor and guidance for those who want to be a mentor.

Author and Reviewer Resources for Promoting Inclusive Excellence in Publications

Building on the Equity and Anti-Racism (EAR) task force report in 2020, SPSP's Anti-Colorism and Eurocentrism in Methods and Practices (ACEMAP) task force worked to identify top-priority policy improvements to advance antiracism and global inclusion at SPSP journals. This task force has developed a collection of resources designed to help authors and reviewers meet journal guidelines and enhance the inclusive excellence of their work. Check out the link below for guidelines and concrete examples for writing an effective constraints on generality section, how to report sample demographics, and helpful tips for inclusive citation and reviewing practices.
