This checklist is designed to support academic departments and organizations who wish to evaluate their progress toward implementing anti-racist practices. This checklist is not designed to be exhaustive, nor is it intended to identify departments that are “racist”. Instead, it is designed to help departments determine whether they are supporting people of color in their community and where they might improve.

Step 1

Download the checklist and distribute to all department members (faculty, students, and staff)

Step 2

All members should complete the checklist individually

Step 3

Organize a time to discuss the results and provide opportunities for reflection

Step 4

Identify a list of action items following the completion of the assessment

Step 5

Develop a timeline to implement and complete the action items

Step 6

Set a calendar reminder to review this checklist annually
