Advancing psychology as a STEM discipline
Tuesday, August 30, 2011
To
strengthen psychology as a STEM
(science-technology-engineering-mathematics) discipline, the
psychological science community has developed a set of
recommendations for the future. These recommendations
focus raising public understanding of psychological science,
advocating psychological science to the federal government,
strengthening the infrastructure for psychological science within
academic institutions, K-12 psychology education, and undergraduate
psychology education, and conducting interdisciplinary research and
training. More than 100 participants contributed to the
recommendations at the APA 2010 Science Leadership Conference, which
met last November in Washington, D.C. The full
conference report is now available online.SPSP
members contributed to the report.
