Reflections from SISPP 2015

With NSF funding, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology offers members a chance to attend the Summer Institute in Social and Personality Psychology (SISPP), a bi-annual two-week intensive summer experience for up to 80 pre-doctoral social and personality psychology students. SISPP offers five courses and two unique workshops led by top researchers and teachers in the field. SISPP 2015 was held at Northeastern University in Boston. Climate Change and Disasters: How Framing Affects Justifications for Giving or Withholding Aid to Disaster Victims

Researchers found a reasoning effect whereby framing a disaster as related to climate change may motivate climate change skeptics to construe information in a biased way as a means to disengage from helping the victims. Read more on the SPSP News Center.

Member Spotlight: Nick Brown

SPSP graduate student member and GSC President Nick Brown earned his B.A. in Psychology from UC Riverside and his M.S. in Experimental Psychology at Villanova University. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Florida Atlantic University studying situational assessment and personality. Read SPSP's interview with Nick Brown in the monthly member spotlight.
