G'Day! A SPSP Summer Abroad

SPSP Student Member DJ Lick has been documenting his experiences researching in Australia for the summer. Here is part three of his blog series: "Imagine my horror when I arrived in Australia to learn that everyone in my host lab works from the office. In fact, working from the office is a formal expectation so that students and faculty members can have impromptu meetings about ongoing projects throughout the day. Fast-forward two months, a large packet of foam earplugs, and many Spotify playlists later, I can honestly say that I’m thankful for the experience." Read more about DJ's experiences.

Common Group Identity May Motivate Americans to Help Integrate Immigrants

Immigrants may experience less racism and receive more support when white American citizens believe in a common group identity that embraces everyone regardless of their birthplace, according to new research published by SPSP.

 

 

Making Sense of Moral Disagreement: Liberals, Conservatives and the Harm-Based Template They Share

There is a plurality of moral beliefs, with liberals and conservatives often disagreeing.  The important question for psychologists is whether descriptive differences in moral judgments reflect differences in moral cognition.

An Update from SPSP President Mark Leary

The SPSP Board Meeting was held in August immediately following the APA Convention.  "Most of our time was spent on details involving the work of the various committees that oversee the convention, the convention program, student members, publications, awards, diversity and climate, fellows, training, and so on, along with topics related to the SPSP administration and budget.  However, I want to mention two specific issues about which you may have questions." Continue reading.
