SPSP is seeking a diverse pool of candidates for the next election cycle of Board members (positions starting January 2019). Members of the SPSP Board help guide the future and vision of the organization and field. Please consider adding your name to the ballot or identifying a colleague whom you think would be a good candidate. No prior SPSP leadership experience is required.
The time has come to select your 2018 Student Committee members. The SPSP Student Committee, one of the association’s most active committees, works to promote the interests of SPSP’s graduate and undergraduate student members. Their work includes producing a student focused monthly newsletter, liaising with committees across SPSP on behalf of the student voice, and organizing and executing events and activities specifically for students at the annual convention. All current undergraduate and graduate student members, as of December 4, 2017, will be emailed a ballot to vote. Voting begins December 4 and ends on December 18 at 11:59 PM, ET.  Open positions for 2018 are:
SPSP is pleased to announce Inside the Grant Panel, the return of our small grant competition at the SPSP Annual Convention (formerly known as Q&pAy).
SPSP signed a letter expressing that we are “extremely concerned with provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) that will increase the financial burden for graduate students by repealing existing provisions in tax law.” Some of the text of the letter, and complete copy, are below. U.S. scientific and technological ingenuity has helped to make our nation one of the most innovative in the world and generated tremendous economic benefit to our country. This inventive spirit starts with people and ideas – and it is our higher-education system that has fostered the development of inventors, entrepreneurs, Nobel Laureates, and business leaders.
