The following candidates will appear on the 2018 SPSP Ballot for election to the Board. Descriptions of Board positions and responsibilities can be found here. Their terms will begin January 1, 2019. Links to the online ballot will be e-mailed to eligible members the week of May 1. To be an eligible voter, you must be a full member with a doctorate in psychology and have paid dues through 12/31/2018.

The Society of Personality and Social Psychology condemns the ongoing persecution by the Turkish government of our colleagues in Turkish universities. We are deeply concerned by current threats to academic freedom in Turkey of signatories of the ‘Peace petition’ in 2016. In particular, we regard the dismissals by executive decree, without due process and legal recourse, and the decision to bring academics to trial as profound violations of academic freedom.

What follows is some information that may provide greater context for some of the society’s decisions and actions around these areas of concern.
