I am currently in my fifth year of a five year PhD program in Social Psychology at the University of Waterloo. Before Waterloo, I completed an English and Psychology double major from York University in Toronto. The first part of my life was spent growing up in Brampton, Ontario, though thanks to my parents I've been fortunate to see a good bit of Canada (and some of the rest of the world too).
Kurt Lewin said that there is nothing so practical as a good theory. My research interest lies in the intersection between the intellectual exploration of scientific theories, and the growing problems of the human condition that surround us. Thus, my research so far has included work on stereotyping and prejudice, prosocial intentions, and lay theories of intelligence and ability. My particular interest is in how different mental frameworks influence social-cognitive processes and the outcomes in intergroup interactions, prosocial behaviors and motivation that results from these frameworks. I am hoping to soon integrate my concern for the environment into my research.
My childhood curiosity has never left me, and I'm always open to new ideas! Check out my blog, send me a message, or chat with me at the next confrence.
