The Department of Psychology at Haverford
College seeks applicants for a full-time Laboratory Instructor and Research
Coordinator, with a flexible start date of July 1, 2013.
The job responsibilities include teaching the laboratory
sections of our Statistics/Research Design course; assisting with laboratory
courses in neuroscience, cognition, social, personality, cultural, and
biological psychology; supporting and managing research in the department
(e.g., programming experiments and surveys, participant management); and
supervision of the animal colony, including hiring and managing student
workers, and coordinating daily inspections, and assuming animal caretaking
duties when students are not available.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree
or higher in experimental or quantitative psychology, familiarity with both
experimental and non-experimental approaches to empirical psychology,
graduate-level coursework in statistics and research methods, and research
experience across a broad range of psychological topics (or a demonstrated
interest and ability in learning how to conduct research in different areas in
the field). Candidates should have an ability and willingness to work with
undergraduates on a diverse set of research topics using a range of
methodological approaches; be proficient in SPSS; have experience with
programming (E-Prime and Matlab preferred, willingness and ability to learn
these platforms accepted); be familiar with techniques for online data
collection. Starting salary is $45,000/year, plus benefits.
