Subject: postdoc position at the University of Toronto
There is a vacancy for a Postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Psychology, University of Toronto Scarborough to support the work of Professor Michael Inzlicht. This extramurally funded post is available for two years, starting on the 1st of July, 2012 or as early as possible after that date. The successful applicant will work with Professor Michael Inzlicht on a number of research projects, most notably a project examining the role of negative affect in the initiation of executive control. Competitive applicants will possess a relevant PhD in Social Psychology, Personality, Emotion, Social Neuroscience or a related field (e.g., Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychophysiology) and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline. A demonstrated interest within the domain of emotions will be considered an asset. Experience with neurophysiological (e.g. EEG/ERP) and peripheral psychophysiological (e.g., EMG, SCR, etc.) methods will be valued.

The post will include managing and collaborating on all phases of research including study design; data collection and analyses; writing for high-impact journals; managing collaborative research relationships with colleagues; dissemination to academic audiences; supervision of research assistants and research students. The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
