The Self and Interpersonal Relationships Laboratory at
Oakland University (under the direction of Virgil Zeigler-Hill) examines the
role that self-esteem and self-concept play in outcomes such as psychological
adjustment, interpersonal relationships, decision making, and resistance to

The Evolutionary Psychology Lab at Oakland University (under
the direction of Todd Shackelford) focuses on the psychology of close relationships,
particularly romantic relationships. This lab studies phenomena such as
jealousy, infidelity, relationship satisfaction, physical abuse, and sexuality.
