Dear Colleagues,
This is a reminder that submissions for the APA convention in Honolulu,
Hawaii on July 31 – August 4, 2013 are
due in about a month on Friday, November 16 by midnight EST. Proposals
for Division 8 can include posters or symposia (our division does not accept
individual paper proposals). Submissions can be made online at http://www.apa.org/convention/index.aspx.
Full details about the procedures for submitting proposals can be found
at hhttp://www.apa.org/convention/call-for-programs.pdf.
The APA
president wants to devote as many hours as possible to supporting the
initiative to ensure that psychologists are in the forefront of providing
behavioral health services to military personnel, veterans and their families
and to soldiers who have been the victims of sexual harassment. He is
soliciting proposals from researchers who are currently engaged in research
that describes and delineates assessments and interventions with soldiers,
returning veterans, their spouses and children, and with victims of sexual
harassment. Proposals that are accepted will be recognized in the convention
program as part of the presidential initiative and the division will be
acknowledged. If at all possible, the presidential sessions will have no
competing programming in the same content area. If your proposal fits
this initiative, choose the PT: Presidential Theme for the other division/group
that may also be appropriate for this proposal.
APA non-members may submit proposals if at least one co-author is
a member of APA or if an APA member sponsors the proposal. Becoming an APA member can take a couple of
weeks, so please plan accordingly.
Feel free to contact me with questions or ideas for programming
that you would like to see at the next APA convention.
Best,
Tera Letzring
