Subject: The SPSP Listserve Announcement System
The Society has, for many years, used an email-based, listserv-like system to send messages out to colleagues.  If you wanted to announce a new book, ask a research question, announce a job opening, and such, then you sent a message to spsp-announce-l@list.cornell.edu and it would be distributed to all members who were subscribed to that email system.

That system is still in place.  We hope that this new, forum-method, will replace it, but for the immediate future both systems are up and running.

The undergraduate and graduate student listserve will also keep running, and you can continue to send messages to it. However, there is also a forum tool in the "Student" group area of this website that can also be used to send out emails to all subscribers

By the way, this forum system has many advantages over an email based system, but my favorite: you can correct typos after you post your question/commentary.

Hi Don,

I was wondering if posts to this forum also go to the SPSP Announce email list?  I recently posted an item, but I do not subscribe to SPSP Announce.

Sure, any member can post (although posts are visible only to members).  If you "subscribe," then you are notified by email whenever someone posts something (or, you are sent digest of posts if you chose that option).  But you need not subscribe to post.
