Call for Applications (Job Posting)
We are pleased to announce a Research Associate (doctoral-level) position in Social Psychology at the University of Münster (Germany) with 50% of full employment (19 hours, 55 min per week), at level TVL-13 (regular level for German state university employees, approx. EUR 18,000 p.a.).
Start date: March 1, 2013
Duration: 24 months. Extension is possible pending availability of funds.
The successful applicant will join the social psychology group under the direction of Professor Gerald Echterhoff and contribute to teaching and research, primarily in social cognition, social influence, false (action) memory, interpersonal communication and shared reality. S/he will plan and conduct experiments using computer-based tasks, analyze the data, supervise student research assistants, participate in meetings with international collaborators, and contribute to conference presentations and the writing of manuscripts. The teaching commitment is two academic hours per semester week (2 SWS, typically one seminar class).
Applications are invited from students with a Master’s, Diploma or equivalent degree in psychology, proficiency in, especially written, English, experience with experimental methods and statistical analyses, and knowledge of statistical software (SPSS/PASW).
The position is a 50% position, and is thus geared toward a doctoral student, who should work toward a dissertation in one of the above fields. We would like to welcome a student with scientific curiosity and strong motivation to pursue research, and (willingness to acquire) skills in the statistical open-source package R, and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in German is useful but not required.
