SPSP is dedicated to the development of first-rate graduate and undergraduate education in personality and social psychology. As part of this effort, the Society offers several student research and travel awards each year:
For a brief description of each award, see below. The SPSP Student Publication Award recognizes excellence in student research with an annual $200 prize given to the best student-authored paper published in an SPSP journal (either Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin or Personality and Social Psychology Review). All student-authored papers that have been accepted for publication in these journals are automatically eligible for this award. There is no nomination or application process for this award; the winner is chosen by an SPSP committee set up for this purpose. Each year the Society provides conference travel awards to 40 graduate students who wish to attend the annual SPSP meeting. The award is $300 per student, and to be considered, students must: (1) be a member of SPSP, and (2) have a paper or poster accepted for presentation at the meeting. For further details, see the Graduate Student Travel Award page. Diversity Fund Travel Awards In 2000 the Society established the SPSP Diversity Fund in an effort to increase the degree of diversity within personality and social psychology. With financial support from this fund, qualified graduate students from underrepresented groups are invited to apply for travel awards to attend the SPSP conference. The award includes up to $500 in conference-related expenses, and students do not need to present any research at the conference in order to qualify. For further details, see the SPSP Diversity Travel Award page. EAESP Summer School Stipends
SPSP offers five stipends per year for eligible students to attend the Summer School of the European Association of Experimental Social Psychology. To qualify, students must: (1) be a member of SPSP, (2) be enrolled in a social psychology Ph.D. program outside of Europe, and (3) not have participated in a prior EAESP Summer School. The stipends include up to $400 in travel costs plus full board, lodging, and registration. For further details, see the EAESP Summer School page.
